Gold Coast World Masters Golf 2026

The 31st World Masters runs for a week in October, and Broadbeach is where most of the field sleeps. Dates, the three courses, what entry covers and how far each course really is.

The Gold Coast World Masters is an amateur championship for golfers who want a real tournament without a professional card. The 31st edition runs from 11 to 17 October 2026: seven days, four rounds, played across three Gold Coast courses. It matters to Broadbeach because the event hotel and the daily transfer pick-up point are both here, on Surf Parade, which means a week of golfers filling apartments, restaurants and bars in the middle of an already crowded October. This page covers the format, the courses and the distances, what the entry actually includes, and the accommodation squeeze nobody warns you about.

What the Championship Actually Is

This is an amateur event, not a pro tournament, and the structure reflects that. Every golfer competes in a single stableford format across the four rounds, and the field is split into more than ten divisions and grades so you are scored against players of a similar age and handicap rather than against the whole entry list. A Graders have the option of entering the stroke competition as well.

There is no central registration hall. Registration and check-in happen at each course on the day you play there, which is worth knowing if you are used to events with a tournament village. The social side is built around two fixed functions: a welcome function with dinner, selected beverages and entertainment at the start of the week, and a farewell and presentation dinner with a three-course meal, selected beverages and a band at the end.

Go Golfing also runs a prize pool it values at over $50,000 across trophies, lucky draws and a major prize draw that every entrant goes into.

The Three Courses, and How Far They Really Are

Two of the three courses are genuinely close to Broadbeach. RACV Royal Pines at Benowa, which hosts two of the four rounds, measures 10.6 km by road, about 13 minutes outside peak. Palmer Gold Coast at Robina is closer still at 8.8 km and roughly 12 minutes. Both are easy self-drive mornings from a Broadbeach apartment.

Links Hope Island is the outlier. It sits well up the northern Gold Coast, and Broadbeach to Hope Island measures 31.4 km by road, about 31 minutes in clear traffic. Realistically you want to allow closer to 45 minutes for an early tee time on the M1. That single round is the strongest argument for taking the transfer package rather than driving yourself.

A note on that last figure: the club itself does not resolve cleanly in OpenStreetMap, so the Hope Island distance is measured to the suburb centre rather than the clubhouse gate. Treat it as accurate to within a kilometre or two, not to the metre. The Royal Pines and Palmer figures are measured to the resort and club themselves. If you want the same treatment for other Gold Coast destinations, the Broadbeach golf courses guide covers the wider course list and what is walkable from town.

What the Entry Fee Covers

The golfer package is AUD $1,565 per person for 2026. That covers the four rounds (two at Royal Pines, one at Hope Island, one at Palmer), motorised carts at all courses, complimentary range balls, a welcome bag with event souvenirs and local vouchers, entry to the major prize draw, and both social functions.

A non-golfer package runs at AUD $1,195 per person. It includes return transfers for the provided activities and a dedicated non-golfer coordinator for the week, which is aimed squarely at couples where only one person plays.

Two useful add-ons sit outside the main entry. The event transport package is $115 per person and covers return golf transfers to and from Meriton Apartments Broadbeach on Surf Parade for all four rounds, plus the optional Ambrose round if you book it. The 2 Person Ambrose itself is $155 per person, played at RACV Royal Pines on Wednesday 14 October across the Blue and Green/Gold course, with a burger buffet lunch afterwards.

Prices here are the published 2026 package rates at the time of writing. Confirm the current figures with Go Golfing when you book, because packages and inclusions change between editions.

The transfer package is the Broadbeach detail

It picks up and drops off on Surf Parade, which is why staying in Broadbeach rather than near the courses actually works.

Why the Field Stays in Broadbeach

Meriton Suites Broadbeach on the Gold Coast Highway is the event’s featured accommodation, and the transfer package runs from Surf Parade alongside it. Published 2026 event rates run from about $225 a night for a Studio Luxe up to $785 for a three-bedroom Ocean Luxe, with car parking around $15 a night. Our independent Meriton Suites Broadbeach review covers what the building is actually like to stay in.

Broadbeach suits a golf week for reasons that have nothing to do with golf. You can walk to a hundred-odd restaurants, the beach is a few minutes away, and Pacific Fair is close enough to fill a rest day. After four rounds in a week, being able to walk to dinner instead of driving to it is the whole point. The Broadbeach restaurants guide is the place to start, and Broadbeach accommodation covers the alternatives if the event hotel is full or you want a kitchen.

October Is the Worst Month to Leave This Late

This is the part no event page tells you, and it is the single most useful thing on this page. Broadbeach has three major events inside three weeks in October 2026, and two of them overlap.

The World Masters runs 11 to 17 October. The Groundwater Country Music Festival takes over the entire Broadbeach precinct from 16 to 18 October, which means the last two days of the golf championship land on the first two days of a free, non-ticketed festival that fills every stage, street and car park in the suburb. Then the Gold Coast 500 runs 23 to 25 October just up the road at Surfers Paradise.

If you are playing the World Masters and have not booked accommodation, you are competing for rooms with a country music festival for the back half of your week. The Groundwater program is out, so book now if you have not. And if you are driving to Royal Pines on the Friday or Saturday morning, allow for the Groundwater road closures, which run from 6:30am Thursday 15 October to 1pm Monday 19 October around Surf Parade and Oracle Boulevard. The Broadbeach parking guide covers where the car parks actually are.

16 and 17 October are the pinch days

Golf rounds and the opening of Groundwater fall on the same two days. Expect full car parks and booked-out restaurants.

The tram is 50c

Every TransLink trip in South East Queensland is a flat 50c. During festival weekend the G:link beats driving across the precinct. See the G:link tram guide.

If You Are Not the One Playing

The non-golfer package exists because a lot of entrants travel as couples. If that is you, the week is better than it sounds: Broadbeach is walkable, the beach is patrolled, and the Groundwater festival lands at the end of the week (Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October) with three days of free live music at Kurrawa Park and partner venues around the suburb - the full program and set times are out.

For the rest of the week, things to do in Broadbeach covers the area properly, and the full October calendar is in our Broadbeach events guide.
