Broadbeach Gold Coast Itinerary — 1, 2 and 3 Day Plans

Before You Start

Broadbeach doesn’t need a car. All itineraries below assume you’re staying in Broadbeach or arriving by G-Link tram. If you want to add a theme park or Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, you’ll need a car or rideshare for that day — budget an extra $30–50 each way by taxi depending on destination.

The suburb is most pleasant April–October. In summer (December–February) the afternoon heat and humidity are real — start beach activities before 10am, retreat to Pacific Fair or The Star in the afternoon, return to Oracle Boulevard in the evening when it cools.

One Day in Broadbeach

7:00am — Kurrawa Beach. Swim or walk before the heat builds. The beach is patrolled from 7am. This is the best part of the day in summer; in winter it’s genuinely pleasant from 8am onwards.

9:30am — Oracle Boulevard coffee. Walk the strip before the restaurants open for lunch. The outdoor cafes are open from 7–8am.

12:00pm — Lunch on Oracle Boulevard. Walk the strip and choose your restaurant — most don’t require bookings at lunch. Italian, Thai, modern Australian, Japanese all represented within three blocks.

2:00pm — Pacific Fair. 400+ stores, air-conditioned, 20-minute walk from Oracle or a very short drive/rideshare. Good for a few hours in the afternoon heat.

5:00pm — Return to Oracle Boulevard. Happy hour at the outdoor bars runs approximately 4–6pm at most venues. Grab a drink and watch the evening crowd arrive.

7:00pm — Dinner. Book ahead for Friday or Saturday evening — popular Oracle venues fill by 7pm. Weeknights are walk-in friendly.

9:00pm — Optional: The Star Gold Coast. 10-minute walk from Oracle Boulevard. Casino floor, bars, and live entertainment running into the night.

Budget estimate: $80–150 per person for lunch, dinner, and evening drinks. The beach, walk, and Pacific Fair are free.

Two Days in Broadbeach

Day 1: Follow the one-day itinerary above.

Day 2 — Morning: Gold Coast Oceanway walk. Walk the coastal path north from Broadbeach toward Surfers Paradise (4km, flat sealed path, ~45 minutes each way). Early morning is the best time — quiet beach, good light. Alternatively, surf lesson at Kurrawa Beach (book in advance with local operators).

Day 2 — Midday: Surfers Paradise day trip. Continue north on the Oceanway or take the G-Link tram ($3.20) to Surfers Paradise Central. Walk Cavill Avenue, visit the Surfers Paradise night market if it falls on your day (Wednesday–Sunday evenings). Tram back to Broadbeach South in the afternoon.

Day 2 — Evening: The Star Gold Coast. Spend an evening you haven’t yet — casino, Nineteen (fine dining, book ahead), or the bars within The Star complex.

Three Days in Broadbeach

Days 1–2: Follow the two-day itinerary above.

Day 3 — Day trip: Choose one based on your interests:

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (25 minutes south by car) — Australian native animals, daily feeding sessions, kangaroo feeding included in entry. Allow 4–5 hours. Best for families and first-time Australia visitors.

Tamborine Mountain (45 minutes west) — Rainforest walks, the Gallery Walk main street (shops, galleries, cafes), Cedar Creek Falls. A cooler change from the coastal heat. Best in spring and autumn.

Burleigh Heads (15 minutes south) — Burleigh Head National Park coastal walk (2.2km loop, ocean views, well-maintained), excellent restaurant strip on James Street. A shorter half-day option that doesn’t require a full day.

Return to Broadbeach for a final Oracle Boulevard dinner to close the trip.

Visiting During Blues on Broadbeach (May)

If your trip falls on 22–25 May 2026, rearrange your itinerary around the festival. Blues on Broadbeach runs free music from approximately midday through to 11pm across 8+ stages on Oracle Boulevard and Broadbeach Town Square. The suburb changes character entirely for the four days.

Practical adjustments: book restaurants at least a week in advance (Oracle fills for the full weekend), expect significantly larger crowds at the beach, and arrive at stages 30+ minutes before headline acts for good positioning. The festival is free entry; you’ll spend on food and drinks at normal Oracle prices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Two to three days covers the suburb comfortably — beach, Oracle Boulevard, Pacific Fair, The Star. Add a day per theme park or day trip you want to include. A week allows you to do everything without rushing, including day trips to Currumbin, Tamborine Mountain, and Burleigh Heads.

No — Broadbeach itself is walkable, and the G-Link tram connects it to the rest of the Gold Coast. You’ll need a car or rideshare if you want to visit Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, the theme parks, or Tamborine Mountain, as public transport to those destinations is slow. For Broadbeach itself, you can park at Pacific Fair on arrival and not move the car for the rest of your stay.

May is the standout month — mild weather (23°C average high), low rainfall, and Blues on Broadbeach (22–25 May, free entry). June, August, and September offer similar weather without the festival premium on accommodation. July is the driest month but school holidays push accommodation prices up significantly.

Well-suited for a weekend. Friday night: Oracle Boulevard dinner. Saturday: beach morning, Pacific Fair afternoon, Oracle evening. Sunday: coastal walk, brunch, drive home. Two nights is enough to feel like you’ve properly used the suburb rather than just passing through.
