Gold Coast Theme Park Pass: Is It Worth It?
One fact decides this for most people: the multi-park pass does not include Dreamworld. Here is what it does cover, how far each park really is from Broadbeach, and the arithmetic that tells you whether to buy it.
Almost every “is the pass worth it” argument comes down to a misunderstanding about who owns what. The Gold Coast’s big parks are run by two different companies, and the multi-park pass only covers one of them. If you buy a pass assuming it gets you into Dreamworld, you have bought the wrong ticket. This page sorts out which parks are on the pass, which are not, how far each one actually is from Broadbeach, and a break-even rule you can apply to whatever prices you are quoted today.
The Short Answer
- The multi-park pass covers the Village Roadshow parks: Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World, Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast and Paradise Country.
- It does NOT cover Dreamworld or WhiteWater World. Those are run by Ardent Leisure, a different company, and need their own ticket.
- It does not cover Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary either, which is run by the National Trust of Australia (Queensland).
- Rough rule: a multi-day pass starts paying for itself somewhere around the third park-day. Under that, single tickets usually win.
- Sea World is 8.9 km from Broadbeach. Movie World is 24.1 km in the opposite direction. They do not pair up as neatly as the pass implies.
| Park | Operator | On the multi-park pass? | From Broadbeach | Drive |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Warner Bros. Movie World | Village Roadshow | Yes | 24.1 km | 24 min |
| Sea World | Village Roadshow | Yes | 8.9 km | 12 min |
| Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast | Village Roadshow | Yes | 23.4 km | 25 min |
| Paradise Country | Village Roadshow | Yes | approx 24 km | approx 25 min |
| Dreamworld | Ardent Leisure | No - separate ticket | 29.7 km | 29 min |
| WhiteWater World | Ardent Leisure | No - separate ticket | 29.7 km | 29 min |
| Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary | National Trust (QLD) | No - separate ticket | 14.3 km south | 20 min |
The Ownership Split Nobody Explains at the Gate
Village Roadshow Theme Parks runs Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World, Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast and Paradise Country. Those four sit on one ticketing system, and that system is what a multi-park pass buys you access to.
Dreamworld and WhiteWater World are operated by Ardent Leisure. Completely separate company, separate gates, separate tickets. No Village Roadshow pass has ever included them and none does now. This is the single most common mistake visitors make, and it is an expensive one to discover on the day.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a third case again, run by the National Trust of Australia (Queensland). It is not a theme park in the rides sense, and it is not on anyone’s multi-park pass.
So the honest way to frame the question is not “is the pass worth it” but “how many Village Roadshow parks will I actually visit”. Everything else follows from that.
The Break-Even Rule (Works at Any Price)
Theme park pricing moves constantly - school holidays, online discounts, seasonal promotions - so any fixed price printed on a guide page is wrong within a month. Use the method instead of the number.
Take the pass price and divide it by the number of park-days you will genuinely use. Compare that figure against a single-day adult ticket for the park you most want to see. If the per-day figure comes in under the single ticket, the pass pays.
The number people get wrong is the park-days, not the price. Two adults planning “four or five parks” over a week almost always manage two, sometimes three. Parks are long days, the drive is 25 minutes each way, and by day three most families want a beach morning instead. Budget for what you will do tired, not what you plan on the flight over.
A reasonable planning assumption: the pass tends to win from about the third park-day onward, and single tickets win at one or two. If you are on the line, buy singles - you can always add another.
Returning to Movie World twice is two park-days and a pass covers it. That is often better value than forcing a third park you are lukewarm about.
Multi-day passes run for a set number of days from first use. If your trip is seven nights but the pass runs shorter, the maths changes. Confirm the window before you buy.
It is an outdoor water park. A pass that leans on Wet’n’Wild for its value is a gamble in a wet week. Check the forecast before you commit.
Geography Changes the Answer
The pass treats its parks as interchangeable. The map does not.
Movie World and Wet’n’Wild sit side by side on Entertainment Road at Oxenford, off Exit 54 of the M1. They are the natural pair: same exit, same car park run, and you can realistically do a half day at each if you are determined.
Sea World is nowhere near them. It is at Main Beach on The Spit, reached down the Gold Coast Highway rather than the motorway. From Broadbeach that is a real advantage - 8.9 km and about 12 minutes, the closest major park by a wide margin, and easy as a half day or a late start. But pairing Sea World with Movie World in one day means crossing the city.
Dreamworld and WhiteWater World are together at Coomera, off Exit 57, the furthest of the group from Broadbeach at 29.7 km. They pair with each other and nothing else.
If you are staying in Broadbeach and want one park with the least friction, Sea World wins on distance alone. If you want thrill rides, you are making the 24 km trip north whatever your ticket says.
Three of the parks are off the M1 north. Sea World is not - take the Gold Coast Highway instead, which is why it is so much quicker from Broadbeach.
At 12 minutes from Broadbeach it is the only park you can reach on a whim. The others need the morning committed before you leave.
Who Should Buy the Pass, and Who Should Not
Buy the multi-park pass if you are staying four nights or more, you have decided on at least three Village Roadshow park-days, and nobody in the group needs Dreamworld. Families with primary-school kids tend to land here naturally, because Sea World and Movie World both hold a full day and Wet’n’Wild fills a hot afternoon.
Buy single tickets if you are on a short trip, if you are travelling with under-fives who will not last a full day, or if one park is clearly the point of the trip. Couples on a long weekend almost always do better on singles.
Buy a Dreamworld ticket separately if Dreamworld is on the list at all - and decide honestly whether it is worth the 29.7 km trip on top of everything else. For many Broadbeach visitors it is the park that gets planned and then quietly dropped.
If you are undecided between the two big thrill parks, the Dreamworld vs Movie World comparison is worth its own read before you spend anything.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Dreamworld and WhiteWater World are operated by Ardent Leisure, a separate company from Village Roadshow Theme Parks. The multi-park pass covers Movie World, Sea World, Wet’n’Wild and Paradise Country only. Dreamworld requires its own ticket, and no Village Roadshow pass has ever included it.
Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World, Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast and Paradise Country. Topgolf Gold Coast is also a Village Roadshow venue but is a driving range rather than a theme park and is ticketed separately by the bay.
As a planning rule, around three park-days. Divide the pass price by the park-days you will realistically use and compare that to a single-day ticket. Most visitors overestimate how many parks they will manage - two or three is typical for a week, not four or five, because each park is a full day and the drive is 25 minutes each way.
Sea World, by a long way. It is 8.9 km from Broadbeach and about 12 minutes by car via the Gold Coast Highway. Movie World is 24.1 km, Wet’n’Wild 23.4 km and Dreamworld 29.7 km, all north on the Pacific Motorway. Distances measured by road on 29 August 2026.
Movie World and Wet’n’Wild, yes - they are next to each other on Entertainment Road at Oxenford and share the same motorway exit. Any other pairing means crossing the city. Sea World is at Main Beach and Dreamworld is at Coomera, so combining either with the Oxenford parks costs you a large part of the day in the car.
No. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is run by the National Trust of Australia (Queensland) and is ticketed independently. It is also in the opposite direction to the theme parks - 14.3 km south of Broadbeach, about 20 minutes through Burleigh Heads.
